Yesterday, we spoke about this idea of choice paralysis, and how some people – when faced with the difficulty of choices for updating and renovating their property – end up choosing to do nothing at all, despite finding themselves resenting their home and feeling like they are in need of a change.

The reason for this choice paralysis is not just because there are so many choices. It’s just about picking tiles or choosing between siding or roofing. It’s also because we have to decide whether or not we’re willing and able to temporarily sacrifice our comfort in order to complete the renovation.

Even a simple change, like interior painting, is going to require some sacrifice – like moving your items away from the walls, or leaving your property for a few hours to so that your contractor can move freely around your home. Other jobs, like kitchen renovations, can take much longer.

At Christian Construction, we make *every* effort we can to reduce the impact on your family. We can also help you with some of the hard parts – we can be the ones to move and protect items on your property, so that the entire thing is a more stress-free experience. We can also work around your schedule if needed, so if you work from home and have meetings (for example), we can find tasks to complete during that time.

In addition, one of the best reason to choose Chrisitan Construction for your home renovation needs is that almost all projects are completed by *our* staff, hired by *us* to do the work. Many general contractors sub-contract out to others, which means that you’re affected by their schedule and availability. We can send our entire team to a property to get the work done as quickly as possible, minimizing disruption.

Still, let’s provide you with a rough idea of how long different projects take. Note that these are general times. As mentioned, Christian Construction is often much faster (depending on the size of the project and materials availability):

  • Kitchen Renovations – Typically take about 2 weeks to 2 months depending on the size of the kitchen and demolition needed.
  • Bathroom Renovations – Typically take as little as two days for most guest bathrooms. Master bathrooms are a wide range, anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, given the vast differences in bathroom sizes and tiling styles. Something like herringbone tiling will take longer than other styles, for example.
  • Flooring Replacement – Flooring can often be completed in as little as 1 day, though larger projects and certain type of flooring may take about 3 days.
  • Reroofing – Reroofing is surprisingly fast for companies like ours that have a lot of roofers. We can usually replace an entire roof in a day, sometimes two or three for larger roofs. Smaller companies with only a couple workers may take about 2 to 5 days, however.
  • Siding – New siding for most companies will take about 1 week (5 business days), though as with all things this can vary wildly with the type of siding and weather. Siding is the type of project that requires extra care, and there’s a lot of square footage to cover.
  • Concrete – Concrete driveways and walkways are completed by the contractor very quickly – often in as little as a day. However, please note that they take as long as 28 days to fully cure, so just because we’re done with our job doesn’t mean that it’s ready to be used.
  • Exterior Painting – Exterior painting depends on the team size. Bigger teams can complete a house in a day or two. Smaller teams typically take about five days. As always, property size can make a big difference, given how much space a contractor has to cover.

As you can see, although each project can vary wildly (from a few days to a few months), most of the time – with the exception of kitchens and large master bathrooms – each project takes about 2 days to a week to complete. That can be a disruption, but it’s not a terribly long one. Most of the time, we can also work with your family there. There may be a bit of noise, and times where you might want to stay away from the work area, but it’s not terribly disruptive overall.

Still, at Christian Construction, we understand how significant this disruption can feel – and why it may paralyze you from making your choice. That’s why we tell you to contact us even if you’re not sure what project you want to complete. We will make a promise to:

  • Work as quickly and efficiently as possible around your schedule. We can send in as large a team as we need to speed up the job without sacrificing quality, and we can schedule your project when it’s most convenient for you, so that you have nothing to fear.
  • Respect your items and your home. We know that when a contractor works on your property, your home feels a bit less like a home with strangers coming in and out. We’ll make sure that you’re getting the best possible help with as little effect on your home as possible.

We also do extensive cleanup, and will always work hard when we’re there so you know that no time is being wasted.

Christian Construction has provided Staten Island and the rest of NYC with any service you could need, no matter how large or small, and we also will make sure to work faster and more thoroughly. If you feel like you need help, and you’re ready to see why so many have partnered with us for their home renovation needs, please give us a call. Even if you’re feeling paralyzed, unsure where to start, a conversation with our team and some scheduling information can be a great way to get moving.
